The Chemistry
When parts are submersed into one, two, or three tanks of a solvent blend, this is called Immersion Cleaning. It may involve the dunking of a basket of parts in a tank, followed by a cleaner tank of the same solvent. While this can be effective and the equipment is low-cost, the volume of solvent used is high because it becomes loaded up with contaminants and must be changed frequently. Filtration helps but it cannot remove dissolved contamination. Email us for more info.
The Equipment
Equipment used for Immersion Cleaning are usually industrial grade stainless steel, with a recirculation pump and filter, and may include ultrasonics and/or heat. Blended hydrocarbons, represented by Chem Logic, are normally used at ambient temperature and without ultrasonics. In the case of the blended hydrocarbons, the solvent is formulated for maximum cleaning effectivity and usually does not require heat or ultrasonics. For water-based solutions, the use of heat is required and often ultrasonics are utilized as well.
